The Luxury of Merino Wool

The Merino is a breed of sheep prized for its fine, soft wool. The breed is originally from Turkey and central Spain, and its wool was highly valued already in the Middle Ages. Merino wool is finely crimped and soft, It has all the benefits of traditional wool and the benefits that synthetics have. It’s soft and comfy; it does not itch at all unlike the wool we usually think of. Best of all it keeps you warm in the cold weather and cool in the hot weather; just like nature intended.

Wool can easily absorb up to 30% of its own weight in moisture without feeling damp or clammy. It wicks moisture away from the body, keeping you warm without feeling wet. 
Wool functions as a temperature regulator, protecting the body in both cold and warm conditions. 
To a certain degree, wool is considered water repellent. Light rain, snow and small spills will stay on the surface or run off the fabric.

Merino Wool contains lanolin - that makes wool naturally anti-odour and antibacterial.
Wool garments do not soil or wrinkle easily, making care easy. And since you don’t have to wash your wool garments often, it’s good for our planet. 
Wool is self-extinguishing; if exposed to flames, it chars or smoulders. Good to know if you get too close to the campfire!

In terms of water usage, Merino Wool is 500 less demanding than cotton.
Merino wool garments is biodegradable within 1 year and it can even be used as fertilizer.
